When a hail storm damaged the roofing shingles and dented the gutters of Chris and Dave’s Southwest Omaha home, the couple needed an Omaha roofing contractor. Chris and Dave knew they could count on United Services to help as they had trusted us in the past with the installation of custom replacement windows and a redesigned front entry door. For their new project, United Services upgraded their roofing to DaVinci composite shingles from the existing asphalt laminate shingles and installed new 6″ seamless gutters and downspouts. In this project spotlight Chris and Dave share their review on how their window and roofing projects went, plus see before and after photos and learn more about their project.
Hi, Mark here from United Services Design and Build. I’m at one of our houses. We did the ProVia door with two side lights. We installed all of the custom windows with a custom color and brick mold around the windows. We installed DaVinci roofing and bronze six-inch gutters. We did the windows in 2016 along with the door in 2016. After the last hailstorm we did the Davinci roof which we upgraded from wood shake to DaVinci through the insurance company.
Homeowner Andrew was looking for a fresh update of his outdated house in Papillion. The paint had started to fade and there was rotted wood on the chimney and back of the house that needed replaced to avoid further deterioration to the house’s exterior. The house was updated with James Hardie 8” Plank fiber cement siding in factory-painted Aged Pewter. The front trim, soffits and fascia were painted white to brighten the house and add dimension. A white replacement window was installed to match the rest of the windows on the front of the house and white trim was installed around three old windows on the rear for a uniform appearance. See before and after photos in this project spotlight.

Bonjour, this is Mark Passer with United Services Design and Build. We’re a family-owned Omaha window and roofing contractor since 1966 when my father Allen Passer founded the company. He was an original tin man in Omaha, meaning he sold siding. In those 55 plus years we’ve developed many more services than just being a tin man, such as windows and roofing. We are proud of all of the services we do and I’m very proud of our family business United Services Design and Build.
Hello, a quick story about United Services. My dad started the company in 1966 as a siding and window company. In the old days my dad would rent the front of the building out where we’re sitting now and his offices would be in the back. When people would say, “Hey, I want to come to your showroom,” my dad would say, “Our showroom is your house. The people’s houses we do. If you want to look at the projects we’ve done, let me show you the houses we’ve done.” So my dad would always be very conservative and rent the front out and use the back. But over the years we have a lot more products beyond windows, roofing and siding, like kitchens and bathrooms, so we’ve taken over the rest of the office. So you’re welcome at 3320 N. 90th to come and see us.
Hello, this is Mark. A quick window I want to show you. This is a ProVia Endure window. It’s a triple pane window which has three pieces of glass and double strength. There’s single strength, there’s double strength and there’s triple strength you can buy. The thicker the glass the less sound that you’re going to hear in the house and the better energy efficient it is. Between each pane they either put argon or krypton gas in there for better density of air not coming in or going out for higher energy efficiency.
There are a number of choices to make when replacing your windows, between frame material, glass type, window style and decorative options. Our expert staff can help you choose the right window for your home. Here are some considerations to keep in mind:
Vinyl or Wood?
Vinyl replacement windows provide the best energy efficiency and are more affordable than wood. While wood windows provide a natural, stately look, they are more difficult to maintain, are more expensive and are often less energy-efficient. If you want the best of both worlds, consider a wood clad vinyl window such as ProVia’s Aeris window series that integrates a real wood interior with a vinyl exterior.
Upgrade Your Window Glass
If you still have older single-pane glass in your home, now is the time to upgrade your windows to double-pane or, even better, triple-pane glass. Triple-pane windows insulated with argon gas or krypton gas will give you maximum energy efficiency to help save on your utility bills and make your home more comfortable. The difference between single-pane and triple-pane windows is stark.
Window Styles
There are a variety of windows styles to choose from. Double-hung windows have two sashes which slide up and down. Casement and awning windows swing open on a single hinge – on casement windows the hinge is on the left or right and on awning windows the hinge is on the top or bottom. Picture windows are fixed glass that does not open. Then there are a variety of specialty window styles such as bow windows, bay windows and garden windows. You’ll want to choose the right window style that fits your ventilation needs, existing window openings and style preferences.
Decorative Options
Finally there are a number of decorative options to choose from. You can choose from a variety of color combinations and wood finishes. You could add designer grids that come in a variety of styles and configurations. If your window is in a bathroom, you may want to consider privacy glass which allows some light through, but doesn’t allow anyone to see in or out. Some windows have the option of adding window blinds between the panes of glass or decorative glass for an artistic flair.
As you can see, there are many choices to make when selecting new windows for your house. As an experienced Omaha window company that offers factory direct windows and a professional window installation service we’re here to help you find the right windows that match your preferences and budget.
We’ll meet with you to go over what you’d like to get done and provide you an exact cost estimate.
