How To Properly Clean Your Cellular Shades

You just had your brand new and beautiful cellular windows shades installed, you’re standing in the middle of your living room admiring their beauty and how perfectly they look with the rest of your home. Nothing seems to take your attention away from your shades until it hits you… Those shades will not forever keep themselves looking as clean and crisp as they look now.

What now!?

Well, one thing is for sure, you didn’t think that buying cellular shades would require a little bit more thought, research and creativity than your old blinds would. Turns out, you can’t just use any cleaning products you would normally use for your old blinds. You can’t really use an old, wet and dirty rag from your kitchen. Your cellular shades deserve better than that!

There are several different methods you could use to clean your delicate cellular shades:

1. Dusting
Dust them on a regular basis. This will prevent your shades from slowly building a layer of dust over time. Taking consistent care of your shades is one of the best ways to keep them clean.

2. Vacuuming
Another method is to use your vacuum. Make sure to use a brush attachment and to not tug on the fabric while doing so. Vacuum in the direction of the pleats on the cells to help maintain their form.

3. Hair dryer… what!?
“How can I get rid of the occasional dust building up inside the cells?”, you might ask. Cellular shades are known for their unique structure; they are made up of cells that resemble a honeycomb structure. There is also a solution for that. As it turns out, hair dryers can be useful for more than just your hair – you can use it to blow the dust out of the cells in your shade. Make sure that the hair dryer is on the non-heat setting and not too close to the fabric as it can damage your shades.

New shades, new you!

Now that you’ve learned a few new tricks on how to keep your new cellular shades looking like new, you can be sure that your money and time invested on your new window shades was worth it.

Your home never looked as good as it does now. Sometimes it is the little things that can give our lives a fresh new start – like adding new window coverings in your living room, kitchen and bedrooms. The little details can make a big impact.

Now, carry on and enjoy your new cellular shades!
