Frequently Asked Questions
Our Services
What types of home improvements do you offer?
We’re a full service home improvement company, which means we can help you with any of your exterior or interior projects within the existing footprint of your house. We do not typically do room additions or build new structures. Our exterior services include roofing, gutters, windows, doors, painting and siding. Interior services include kitchen, bath, basement and laundry room remodels.
What does design and build mean?
We can assist on your project from the beginning design phase through completed installation. Our professionally trained designers on staff help design your project, whether you are selecting new paint or siding colors for your home or doing a complete kitchen remodel. Your sales consultant and designer will help select the right products for your project and work side-by-side with our installers to complete your project to your satisfaction.
Getting Started on Your Project
Yes! Our initial consultation and cost estimate is always offered at no charge to you.
Yes. For our exterior services, such as roofing, windows, painting or siding, we can come to you so we can see in-person what you’d like to get done and take preliminary measurements. For interior services, such as kitchen or bathroom remodels or window shade purchases, we find it best to start with a showroom visit to get a sense of the design style you have in mind before scheduling an in-home visit to see your space and take preliminary measurements.
Yes, if for safety reasons during the Covid-19 pandemic you would prefer a virtual or no-contact consultation, simply let us know. For exterior projects we can often inspect from the outside of your home and either talk with you about the project socially-distanced or over the telephone. For interior projects we can arrange a video call and/or have you send us photos to discuss the project over the phone.
For as long as recommended by the CDC, our staff and installers will wear masks when inside your home or meeting with you in-person.
Absolutely! Our showroom visits are by appointment so that we can be best prepared to answer your questions and make the most of your time.
During the Covid-19 pandemic, this also allows us to limit the number of clients we have in the showroom at any given time for the safety of you and our staff. We respectfully request that you wear a mask in the showroom until the CDC determines it is safe to no longer wear masks in public settings.
One of our professionally trained representatives will meet with you to discuss your project in detail. Our representative will listen to what you’d like to get done, do a needs assessment, go over design and product options and take preliminary measurements in order to provide you an exact cost estimate and answer any questions you might have.
Yes. Our representative will provide information on our company and product brochures. We have samples available for many of our products for you to see and touch the material. We also utilize online visualizers to help you envision how the product will look on your house.
Great, we look forward to assisting you! To get started call or e-mail your sales consultant directly, or call or text our office at 402-572-1144 or e-mail info@unitedservicesohi.com. We will prepare a detailed sales contract so that everything included on your project is clearly stated in writing. From there our designer will reach out to assist with color and design plans, when applicable, and we’ll order your materials and schedule your installation.
Installing Your Project
The following are general estimates of how long your project may take. Depending on the scope of your project, installation crew schedules, material availability, weather delays and other circumstances, your project may take shorter or longer to complete.
Roofing – 1-3 days
Gutters – 1 day
Windows or Doors – 1-3 days
Painting – 3-7 days
Siding – 7-10 days
Full Kitchen Remodel – 4-6 weeks
Full Bathroom Remodel – 2-4 weeks
We will notify you of our projected installation schedule prior to the work being started. If the schedule changes we will notify you of any changes. Circumstances such as the weather, materials on backorder or work load delays may require the schedule to be shifted.
Our professional installation crews will perform the work on your house. Our trusted contractors specialize in their respective area of expertise and are trained on the latest installation standards to ensure a quality installation. If your project involves multiple trades, such as windows and painting, you will have a separate installation crew that specializes in each trade.
Materials for your project will be delivered to your house either prior to the installation date or the installers will bring the materials with them at the time of install.
Roofing materials are typically delivered onto your rooftop. Siding materials are placed in your driveway – please let our project manager know which side of the driveway you would prefer. Windows, doors, paint and gutters are brought by the installation crew on the day of install.
For interior projects – cabinets, tile and flooring may be delivered to your house prior to install. Your designer will arrange with you a location to store the materials.
Yes. Any materials leftover will be picked up upon job completion. We often order a few extra materials in case our installers need more than anticipated while completing your job to avoid installation delays. Any leftover materials are the property of United Services. Upon request and depending on your project we can often leave a small amount of materials behind for you to have on hand should a future repair need arise, such as a bundle of roofing shingles, a few panels of siding, opened cans of tinted paint, a few tiles, etc.
Yes, our installers do a thorough clean-up at the end of the job and we’ll haul away all job-related debris. Your sales consultant will perform a completion walk around with you to make sure the job-related dust and debris is cleaned up to your satisfaction.
At any stage of your project if you have questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to call or text our office staff at 402-572-1144 or reach out directly to your sales consultant or designer.
Payment and Financing Information
For exterior projects a down payment is typically not required, depending on the scope of the project. For interior remodels, a down payment of 50% is due prior to ordering any materials or starting the work.
Payment by cash or check is preferred. If you wish to pay by credit or debit card there is an additional 3% fee to cover credit card processing fees.
United Services offers in-house financing for qualifying purchases under $7500, subject to credit approval.
We also offer third-party financing through a Synchrony Bank home project loan. We can also assist you with obtaining a loan with the Denman Team at Delmar Mortgage, Great Western Bank, Dundee Bank or your own bank.
Payment in full is due upon project completion, unless you were pre-approved for in-house financing.

Many of the products we install come with manufacturer product warranties which will be provided to you upon project completion. United Services offers a labor warranty that guarantees our workmanship for a period of one year after the work is performed.
