Bringing The Outside Into Your Home With Succulents

Get trendy by freshening up your home with easy to maintain plants like succulents. They have been around forever and now they are a popular trend. But, why succulents? Why are people deeply obsessed with them? What is so special about them that made them become so trendy and popular on social media?

 Where do they come from?

Succulents are part of the cactus family and one of the reasons why they are so special is because unlike other plants, cacti and succulents are able to thrive in harsh climates and conditions. Cacti is the Latin plural for cactus and it is basically a succulent that is able to store water. They are low maintenance which makes them the perfect type of plant to have indoors.

 Succulents, Succulents everywhere!

Because of the aesthetic features of succulents, they can be found in many different places such as in shopping malls, grocery stores, libraries, restaurants, but mainly in homes.  Bringing nature inside with perfectly sized succulents will make your home feel more welcoming for your guests and it will bring a sense of warmth and peace into your life. They help with softening up a room without taking up too much space - they are perfect for small places where space is limited. And no need to worry about maintenance, succulents survive indoors with minimum effort.

Rule of thumb: Avoid high traffic areas and ensure visibility

Here are some ideas on where to place your beautiful succulents:

 #1- Entry table

One of the entry design tips from our last blog post is to liven up your space by bringing in a touch of nature and a perfect way to do that is by adding succulents in different sizes and colors. The table in your entry will look more pleasing and inviting, ready to welcome your family and friends.

#2 - Coffee & dining table center piece

Place a variety of succulents with different colored vases (or matching ones); be creative and unique. To add a personal touch, consider spelling out your last name using the vases by adding each letter to each vase. Make sure they coordinate with the rest of the room.

 #3 - Hang a living picture

Vertical wall planters are a perfect solution for small places that take nature seriously. Why hang a picture when you can hang a whole garden? There are endless options on how you can do that. Recycle an old mail box or a tin jar to hang and display your succulents on the wall.

 #4 - Kitchen

The kitchen is like the heart of the home, so why not make sure it feels homey? Add succulents with vases that match your cabinet's hardware or cooking utensils. Mix and match metal vases. If you have a big kitchen, consider larger sized succulents to match the size of your kitchen. Consider adding cooking measuring lines to the vases to add a personal touch.

 #5 - Desk

Give your home office a fast and easy makeover by adding beautiful and lively succulents on your desk. Get rid of some unnecessary items (okay, clutter...) on your desk and make room for a little bit of nature.

One of the best succulent features is that they come in many different sizes - particularly small. It gives you the freedom to place them almost anywhere in your home. Personalize your bedroom by adding a couple of succulents in different sizes and colors on your nightstand.

#7 - Garden replacement window

A garden replacement window is a perfect place to display succulents! Garden replacement windows are a unique, feature window often used in kitchens and are ideal for indoor plants to get maximum sunlight all year round, even in the winters of Omaha. This replacement window style has three glass sides that project from the exterior wall with a solid bottom shelf.

Bring the outside in and don't forget that wherever you place your succulents, make sure they complement the piece they sit on, be creative and more than anything, have fun displaying them!
